Grave of 6192346 Corporal William Robert Jacobs, 1st Battalion, Middlesex Regiment.  Date of Death: 29 August 1921

Cpl Jacobs was accidentally shot in the stomach in the guardroom of Belturbet Barracks, by an inexperienced soldier who was handling a revolver for which he had received little training. Medical aid was provided but unfortunately Cpl Jacobs succumbed to his injuries approximately half an hour after being shot. The subsequent Board of Inquiry concluded that it was a tragic accident and that the inexperienced soldier involved was deeply affected by the accident.
