*The second line of what is now commonly known as the Kohima Prayer or Kohima Epitaph, commemorating the crucial WW2 battle of Kohima on the India - Myanmar border between April and June 1944, it was originally written at the end of the First World War by a Cambridge scholar and classicist turned wartime codebreaker, John Maxwell Edmonds.
